We’re constantly talking to ourselves in the quiet of our own minds. But is what we’re saying helping or hurting us?
As a Consciousness Coach, I am always guiding folks to begin noticing how they’re framing whatever they’re thinking about.
Is this a problem or an opportunity? Because whichever way you’re looking at it, you’re right.
I’ve heard myself and many others ask the question, “Why is this happening to me?!?”.
To which I know the answer is always… because I was resonating with it. I was a vibrational match to that behavior or situation.
So, knowing this, how do we move ourselves into the direction of the things we’d prefer?
The quickest way to do that is begin asking ourselves better questions.
As we ask questions, the universe jumps to answer them. Some we want, some we don’t.
Instead of, “Why is this happening to me?”
Try asking,
- What am I doing to contribute to this showing up in my experience?
- What can I do to shift my energy around this situation to raise my vibrational frequency?
- How can I relax and let this work out in my best interest?
Practically Magic
The way we frame whatever we’re feeling determines the direction we go next.
I found myself over caffeinated the other morning. Typically, our coffee to start the day is half-caf, but, we were out of decaf, so full caffeine it was. Oy.
Midway through my morning routine, I was seriously questioning what the heck was wrong with me.
Fortunately, I ask myself helpful questions, like… “What is going on with me right now?”
Then, I took a few slow, deep breaths, relaxed and started noticing what I was feeling physically in my body. Uneasy in my belly and chest, my head feeling a little swimmy and weird.
It felt like nervousness and anxiety in my body, and my mind was more than willing to offer up a number of life issues for me to worry over. Ahhhhhh. Bless my sweet heart. I’ll pass, thanks.
It was in that moment, I realized. “Holy crap. No decaf in our coffee this morning.” Wowza. What a powerful demonstration.
Feelings Lead to Thoughts
That little episode was a powerful demonstration to me how easily bad feelings in our body can throw our minds into a tailspin.
Wondering or worrying quickly follows the path of least resistance, right to the things we struggle with most.
That’s the way humans work. We can’t think any differently than we feel. So when we feel bad, our thoughts follow right in line.
That’s the power and importance of noticing and monitoring what we’re thinking. And being willing to let go of mindsets that keep us spinning in the same situations.
When we allow ourselves to go on and on about something mentally in a negative manner we’re setting ourselves up for having to deal with and feel that upset over and over again.
Nothing to worry about, but one of the most important things for us to pay attention to.
Here are some good questions to get you moving in the right direction. Once you get rolling you can come up with your own questions.
- Where did that thought come from?
- Is it helpful?
- Does it make me feel better?
- Is it true?
Absolute Magic
Love and appreciation are where we want to hang out energetically, vibrationally, if we want to experience more magic in our lives.
So, how to do we get there? Find, think about and focus on things that you love and appreciate.
If that’s difficult in the moment, relax your body and breathe. Set your brain aside and allow your body to come down from the stress or the upset.
It may take a few moments of consciously breathing, and either moving or relaxing, to be able to ask better questions, but when you do, boy howdy do things change quickly.
It’s almost like having a magic wand. When we put down the argument for our limitation, the frustration or the upset and just allow our bodies to come to peace, our mind will follow.
Don’t try to force it, but do give it some effort. Notice you’re struggling and do your best to stop thinking. And following the “Going on a Bear Hunt” story song of our childhood… we can’t go over it, can’t go under it, can’t go around it, we’ve got to go through it.
Feeling through any upset is the quickest and most effective path to resolution, relaxation, peace in the heart and clarity in the mind.
And once you’ve moved through it, ask something like this…
- What can I appreciate about this situation?
- What would I love to happen?
- What would I like to experience?
- How do I want to feel right now?
The stories we tell ourselves and thoughts we allow to swim around in our head are the bricks that make up the road ahead of us.
To create a better and easier path ahead, we have to change the way we’re looking at what we’re seeing. And feeling through any difficult emotions that arise is the quickest way to shift perspectives.
If you need support in finding a better way of looking at things or feeling more peaceful and easy about what is, get it. It’s the fastest way to take full responsibility and control for what’s happening in life.
I love you so much,
