Tools of the Conscious Creator’s Trade

Growing up, my dad always told me, “Attitude is everything” and “Life is 10% what God gives you and 90% what you make of it”. He also told me I’d argue with a fence post, and that I’d bitch about being hung with a new rope, but these first mentioned ideas were the basis from which I built the rest of my life. So thank you, Daddy, you were absolutely right… about all of it. Ok, most of it. Let’s not get carried away.

I’ve been doing this work for 25 years… creating my reality. I was in my early 20’s when I read the book, The Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn, that changed my life. I knew while reading The Game of Life and How to Play It, it was all true and I could and would never forget.

The following are some basic takaways from what I’ve learned over these past 25 years. It might have been slow going in the very beginning, but has ramped up exponentially. This train is already rolling folks, jump on!

Get Tough, Girl

Daddy also told me I should have thicker skin. And as a super sensitive empath, this was quite the chore that took years to achieve. I’m still the same super sensitive empath, but I have moved so much of the energy I experienced in my younger life that even I can’t believe how confident I’ve become. My inner knowing and ease with being able to handle whatever happens has shaped my ALL LOVE and No Mercy attitude.

This reality creating isn’t for the faint of heart. You have to be strong in your faith and knowing and, flexible in your allowance of others.

I’ve listened to people laugh at what I say and roll their eyes while looking at the rest of the group like I’m airy-fairy and don’t live in the “real world”. I’ve irritated more than a few people with my incessant positivity and insisting that everything would indeed work out. Even more people have been aggravated with me for not wanting to listen to them go on and on about a problem from a negative vibration and telling them not to argue for their own limitations.

As you get more in touch with your own intuition and start living more fully in your body you’ll begin to feel energy physically. Negatively focused conversations (even from the best intentions) will clench your gut, chest or throat and make you want to run screaming down the street, tearing out your hair. I still have to remain calm while listening to people focus or speak fearfully or negatively, knowing this behavior is only creating the next opportunity for them to feel this way again. And, while maybe what they need most is more love and positivity, if I say something, it will only trigger them.

Pro Tip: It’s relevant for some to explore the lower vibrations more or for longer than is necessary for others… that doesn’t make them wrong, it’s just not right for me and maybe you.

Everyone is where they are on their own path and it isn’t always going to run in alignment with our own. Blessings of love to each of us. We are loving humans that want what we think is best, but each individual is on their own life path and Free Will is the name of the game. Deep breaths and relax.

Take Full and Complete Responsibility for Your Life

When I realized that we are all indeed creating our life by what we focus on and think about, I understood why, in life, I had gotten what I had gotten. No longer did I look to blame people outside of myself. No longer could I yell, scream or lose my shit. I am in control of my own life. I mean, it didn’t happen overnight. It actually took a few years to fully be able to pull it off on a regular basis, but that’s because it was a new concept and I didn’t have support or anyone to really talk with about what I was learning and going through.

Plus, I didn’t understand the concept of Energy at that time. I didn’t know how to feel through what I was feeling physically in my body to let it move. I mistakenly thought that if I felt something it meant it was true, it was real, it is here and if I feel it, it will GROW. Bless my heart.

That is what happens when we feel bad, emotionally or physically, and think negatively about why we feel bad at the same time. BUT, if we’ll set our brain aside and allow ourselves to experience the physical sensations in our body of the raw feeling, that accompanies the emotions, that revolves around the story… are you seeing a pattern here?

Take a moment to sit quietly… nice, straight and tall, both feet on the floor. Take a deep breath. Relax your face, jaw, neck, shoulders. Breathe slowly, deeply… in through your nose, filling your belly completely, then fill your chest, up through your neck and fill your head. Hold that for 2 and release with an audible AHHHHHHHHHH. This stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system that will calm your body without asking your brain for permission, thank you very much. Notice how your body relaxes a bit more after each breath. Feel the heart unclench and relax, the belly soften and the mind begin to ease.

Notice what you’re feeling physically in your body. Without thinking about why you feel these things soften and experience them as sensations in the body. Keep your mind occupied with soothing and comforting yourself with kindness and encouragement. If you can’t come up with your own words use these to start. Come up with phrases that are personal, relevant and really feel right for you.

  • Bless my heart, this is uncomfortable!
  • It’s all energy and its all moving
  • This sucks, but it’s only a feeling and it won’t kill me
  • We are vibrational beings living in a vibrational universe
  • Yes, Please and Thank you!
  • I love you, I love you, I love you!

Learning to take full control of your emotions and thoughts will put you firmly in the drivers seat of your own life. This has been the most rewarding and freeing part of my journey, being in control of myself. It has allowed me to gracefully navigate difficult situations in ways that truly benefitted all involved.

Lighten Up and Laugh About It

Whatever it is, lighten up and laugh. No matter the situation, me being calm and centered always yields a more favorable result. I always think of my sister, Johanna when I need to lighten a tense situation with a funny comment or one-liner. I could always count on her to throw out a hilarious zinger after I had just turned up the tension of a situation because of my own participation from a lower, chest clinching vibration. These days, I always allow myself to take a moment to breathe and feel the tension in my (chest). You can’t think straight when you’re mad, scared, frustrated, upset or worried. So take a minute. There are plenty of things that plenty of people will tell you to freak out about, get mad over, or that it’s worth a fight. Bless ALL hearts. Everything is worth moving the necessary energy around so the correct action for the highest good of everyone can be taken.

Make it Right

KNOWING I’m creating my reality, I will NEVER say, act, or behave as if something is NOT going to work out for me. That would be acting contrary to my own knowing. Not gonna happen.

If you’ve ever watched or participated in improvisational theater you might know the rule is, Yes, and…
Yes to what’s just been said AND… what’s next… add your spin in the direction you’d like it to go. Yes, and can send you into orbits you didn’t even know existed. NO, ends the game, NO, gets you stuck.

Yes, and…. the most amazing thing happened.

Yes, and… then all my dreams came true!

Yes and… then the perfect situation presented itself that I couldn’t be more thrilled or excited about. It’s beyond all my wildest dreams of what I’d be doing or get to do. It just showed up. I got a phone call and here was something that I hadn’t even been focused on, but that had been important to me for a long time. I’ve spent countless hours thinking and talking about how to make this better or how it can be better and that someone has already figured it out. And here’s a phone call, out of the blue, that has asked me to be involved. WOW. Yes, please and thank you.

When you make things RIGHT, they will ALWAYS work out for you. No matter what they may look like at the time or in the beginning. Keeping our poise, even in the most difficult situations and circumstances. Empty tanks, empty beds, empty bank accounts are all old news. Keep your focus on what you want and intend to make everything right.

  • How could this work out for me?
  • What great thing could happen next?
  • How can I let this be easy?
  • Who is going to show up that I don’t even know about?

When we began dealing with Dionne’s cancer diagnosis, I told only a handful of people what was going on. We had already moved past the diagnosis and were emotionally, mentally and physically moving along the healing path. Me telling and retelling the story was not going to support my vision of her perfect health. When I told our core folks and asked them to tell others that would want to be told we said, this is going to be fine, we are working it out, cry about it as you need to, but we’re moving onward, upward and out of this.

And that’s exactly what we did. Our family and friend group followed our lead and we moved through Stage 4 breast cancer in 5 months. We’re still working our way out of that particular system, but it has come with more blessings that we can count and so many of them are human connections with beautiful, kind and loving people we’d never have had the chance to meet. What a true blessing and miracle that cancer turned out to be. And it’s true for us because we’re creating our reality consciously. These are always options when you make whatever happens “right”.

You Decide

If you want something, make a decision. Decide what you want and move in that direction. I always encourage one to decide to be happy, healthy and abundant rather than needing any specific name, place, face or thing. We only want specific things because we think they will make us FEEL specific ways. I say, let’s cut out the middle man! How do you want to feel? The feelings will bring the things. The things will only temporarily bring the feelings and then you’ll need something else to bring the feelings. Do you see this pattern?

Decide how you want to feel and move confidently in that direction.

Throughout this journey, certainly more in the beginning, if it doesn’t feel good to think about your absolute peace, boundless joy, flowing abundance and perfect health, that only means you have energy to move around (the situation) and where ever it feels tight or uncomfortable in your body… that’s where to focus first.

Our physical body is an indicator of how our current perception of the situation is lining up with our true higher, God self.
Is this the way God sees it?
Do you feel good? Yes. You are in alignment with your higher God self.
Do you feel bad? No. You are not in alignment with your higher God self

If you feel bad about something it means the way you’re looking at it doesn’t allow you to see the actual benefit of the situation. How do you begin to see the benefit? Move the energy.

Once you do that you’ll always be the one to make the decision. I want this or I don’t. You won’t be waiting around for something or someone else to decide.

It ain’t over till it’s over. Don’t give up. Relax. Give up the struggle. Move the Energy. Hold the line. Stay calm. Stay poised. Breathe. Relax and support yourself.

Tools for Tough Times

As many of us learned during the recent freak winter storm, here in Texas and beyond, it’s good to be prepared. Likewise, in this journey of consciously creating our reality there are things we need along the way. In the beginning, you need a bit more support getting moving, but later you’ll find it’s more about refining and fine tuning for your optimum experience. Below are some suggestions that have helped me through all stages of my growth.

I’ve detailed above a breathing technique that works every time. Your willingness to take the time to do it is up to you. Support yourself, or get support. Once this becomes a regular practice and habit, your life will literally be YOUR OWN.

Make lists of things you love, appreciate and are grateful for. Quick and easy focus shifter when you need to consciously and purposefully move your mind in a better direction.

Keep a journal of all the magical and marvelous things you’ve created by thinking about or focusing on them. Let yourself open to what these might be, often times we’ll not take notice. Take notice.

Write a script when you’re feeling good and loving and in the flow that you can read to yourself when you’re feeling angry, low, scared or upset. Don’t count on your own brain to come up with inspiring material when you’re feeling funky. Take the initiative to support yourself.

Get grounded in your body. Get out in nature, bare feet or lay in the grass, take a shower/be in water, clean or sweep. Turn off the electronics and touch nature. The EMF’s from so many of our electronics are constantly disrupting and scrambling our energy. Nature soothes and supports our highest vibrational alignment.

Start a self care routine, buy yourself a nice comfy robe and big mug for tea. Get comfortable getting comfortable. Notice where you are uncomfortable, soften and soothe, breathe and stretch. Get used to noticing what you feel in your body. This is where your clearest communications from the Divine are received and if you’re not paying attention you’re missing the point.

according to what would thrill and delight you. How does that feel? What does that look like?

Fall in Love With The Process

We’ve spent much of the last week in our back yard and garden enjoying the beautiful weather and stirrings of Spring. Cleaning up after a long, cold winter can be a daunting task and looking out at the visual devastation our garden suffered after this lingering, freezing winter storm we recently experienced was overwhelming.

The amount of dead to be cut back and put into the compost pile would make you think everything was lost. But, my understanding from many years previous experience, is that this is just part of the process. I can recognize all the work that needs to be done, but not get bogged down in it. I can see that despite appearances, things are working just as they should, not as I would have them. I don’t quickly give up on things that look entirely dead; I have too often seen that spark of life again spring forth when all seemed lost.

So, understanding this process and what I’m dealing with, I pick a task, just one task. Sweep/spray off the porch, vacuum/mulch leaves from a garden bed, buy/mix soil for pots… What seems to be the most easy and obvious task that will make me feel like I’ve really made some progress? What feels good to me? I understand the energy with which I undertake any task will flow forward into my next one.

Start with what feels good for you and they’ll all go that way.

Life is a process. The old saying that life is about the journey and not the destination is so true… and the journey is a process. We’re always in transition, from where we were to where we’re going.

Evolutionarily speaking our brain is here to protect our physical apparatus. So in that respect, notice, our brain constantly pointing out what’s wrong or could be dangerous is our old, caveman response. Long since useful to us, it’s now actually the most important thing we become aware of in ourselves and start to shift.

Science has proven we are influencing our reality by our focus and attention. So, knowing this information, it’s clear focusing on what is bad or wrong will only create more of what’s bad or wrong in our lives. This is a proven fact. It’s how the experimenter influences the experiment. What’s expected is often what we get. What do you expect? Is it what you want?

Whatever I’m facing in my outer physical reality is a direct reflection of my own inner conflict or struggle. If I can honestly accept that power and soften around my own personal struggles, removing my attention from the person or situation I have falsely blamed for all my worries and upsets, I can change my whole world, which includes individuals in it. I don’t force change on those around me, I create it myself by releasing the energy that created the situation in the first place.

Step by step

So, if I understand my thoughts and focus create my reality, then I would want to practice thinking and focusing on the best, most positive, productive solutions and situations I can think of.

And, if I also understand the physical sensations I feel in my body, attached to the emotions, are the reason I might have difficulty releasing the long-running negative or fearful thoughts, then I’d want to learn to relax my body and allow myself to physically feel better so I could easily shift my thoughts to ones more positive, powerful and productive.

This is all assuming we’re willing to let go of our negative attachments to everyone and everything. If my allegiance to or hatred for a group or individual leaves me red faced, chest tight, stomach clenched, huffing and puffing, it’s not good for me. Do I want to be happy or right? Does being right actually make me happy? How can I relax and more easily move through this tightness in my solar plexus, while constantly setting aside my incessant, unhelpful thoughts and support myself mentally? Bless my heart, bless my heart, bless my heart. This is the work.

If you you’re recently beginning your journey of conscious creation and your mind still tends to focus negatively in judgement or fear, relax. Anyone proficient at anything first had to learn about it and then practice. You can do this and it can be easy. Don’t argue for your own limitation. Let yourself think about how great it’s going to be and then move through any doubt you feel arise physically in your body.

This is the process to fall in love with.

This is the ticket to your own personal freedom. You’ve just been given the keys to the kingdom. You can be, do, and have whatever you want. You have the freedom to focus on, think about and create the life of your dreams. No one else is creating in your reality. Other peoples thoughts and opinions only affect you to the extent you buy into and allow them.

You are F R E E. Go forth and be happy, healthy, and prosperous.

Learn to Play The Game

If you feel your life is limited by your surroundings I’d like to introduce you to the idea of Life as a Game. There are a few things happening in this Game… You’ve got the Game vs the small game and the Player vs the player/piece.

Most folks live their lives from the view point of the playing piece, as on the Monopoly board, rather than the actual hand or Player that moves the piece along throughout the entire Game.

If we don’t understand we are the Player, we will play as the piece.

And you might as well BE a hat, shoe or thimble by the amount of power given away to random and familiar people, agencies, and institutions. But, when you begin to understand the concept of life as a game, which it is (that we absolutely came here to play!), you can relax about the things and situations that upset you.

The Game of life is about evolving into the highest version and ideal of ourselves that chooses Love easily and effortlessly in every instant. Everyone is playing this game, that is the point of this physically manifested universe; a playground to learn to love.

The small game of life is about acquiring things, money, status, power. Most people are stuck in this game. Surviving our childhoods but carrying our old hurts and fears around creating more of the same and blaming someone else for it happening.

In the Game of life we are the Player, the Player sees the whole board and understands the moves made by other Players and makes the best moves based on the wider perspective and understanding of how the game works.

In the small game of life we are the player/piece. As the player/piece we’re an object moved around a board, with no input or power, subject to the whims of a drawn card, taxes or overpriced rentals. Go to jail. Go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Dang.

I don’t know about you, but I am here to Play this Game.

My days of being the player/piece that mindlessly gets knocked about by “bad news” or disappointments are long since gone. Being the Player is a much more thoughtful and rich experience. Players feel the full extent of the emotions around any subject or situation and make sound and stable decisions from a place of peace and loving awareness.

If you’re not familiar with these ideas and still find yourself needing other people to be different for you to be happy, I send you all my blessings. This isn’t for everyone. Some people like the small game drama of family fights, disagreements and hospital visits. And everyone gets to have the experience they want. It’s called Free Will.

As the Player we understand we actually chose our most difficult personal experiences from which to learn and grow. But if, as the player/piece we’re unwilling or unable to find a higher perspective, no worries, in this game of life a similar situation will keep coming around. It will happen over and over again in our life, in the lives of our children and in the lives of their children. Until someone along that line wakes up and starts Playing the Game.

Learning to Play this Game is the most important work you will ever do. It changes the work required of you. It releases the drama and fighting, the illness, anxiety, lack, fear and disease. It opens you up to experience true peace in your heart which shifts all manner of circumstances and situations.

Giving Thanks for Peace

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope your day was filled with warmth, good food, good company and loving family of all kinds.

I am thankful for the love of my family and friends, my happiness and the peace in my heart.

Although our lives may never be exactly what we want, things are always shifting and changing. New opportunities and blessings present themselves as surely as we stumble across old challenges.

My deep peace comes from my knowledge of how the world works, my ability to not take everything I think seriously and knowing how to let myself feel what I feel without struggle. I know nothing lasts long if I don’t resist it and saying three magic words can change everything. Yes & Thank you.

It’s relatively simple but can be difficult to accept if we’ve spent our lives…reacting to every situation, blaming others for our unhappiness and misfortune, beating ourselves up for every tiny mistake we think we’ve made or thinking someone was “out to get us.”

I can relate to all of it. That was how I lived for a while. It was all I knew. Reacting to life. Recognizing I had control and learning to exercise that control was difficult and heart-wrenching before I learned the true secret to letting life be easy.

Here’s to living each day, appreciating the wonderful people, circumstances and opportunities that constantly surround us. They are always there, we just sometimes get side-tracked by things that worry and scare us.

Do you ever lie awake in bed at night and wish you could turn your brain off? Chores, bills, family issues running through your mind, one after the other. Things to do, business to handle, problems to solve and beside all of that, the world is going to hell in a hand-basket.

It’s really not, it just serves a handful of folks to make you think it is.

Not to worry, I can help.

Being human we all have this busy monkey mind problem. From where you may be right now, your thoughts can jump around from who’s done wrong, to what you’ve done wrong.

Focusing on what is bad, wrong, terrible, unjust, wrong, wrong, wrong(did I say wrong?) is the natural order of the day for most folks. If you think that’s just the way you are and it can’t change, you’re wrong.

It’s easy to refocus our minds with a bit of information and a couple of simple, easy tools in our belt to use when we need them.

Tip 1 – Get into your “Right Brain.”

As you know, our brain is divided into a right and left hemisphere. The left side of your brain is the analytical, critical thinking side(notice the word CRITICAL?), while the right hemisphere of your brain is where your creativity comes from. When your brain is running a mile a minute, say aloud or to yourself, “let’s get into our right brain.” It will help slow down the computer(your brain) and allow you to focus on something more pleasurable and relaxing.

Tip 2 – Give your brain a job.

Once you’ve gotten yourself into your “right mind,” consciously begin to think of other things. As I was lying in bed the other night trying to turn my brain off so I could get to sleep and rest easily, I started this little game in my head.

Using the alphabet, I started saying words that soothed me and focused me easily in a different direction(I was asleep by K). Coming up with the next word took all of my attention as I was searching for words that felt good so my busy mind was busy supporting me. You can’t keep thinking of what you don’t like if you are actively thinking about something else.

Below is the list of words I started compiling.

You can do it spontaneously or plan for it. Sometimes it helps to have a plan in place for moments when you know you could have a hard time focusing on the positive. Write them down on a piece of paper and just read them aloud or to yourself. Post your list in your car, on your bathroom mirror, the refrigerator or in your office.

Don’t let yourself spend too much time fretting, worrying or focusing on things that upset you. We, as human beings, are vibrational boomerangs. What you put out there you absolutely do get back.

So when you find yourself raging against the machine(any of them or their drivers) take a couple steps back and a big deep breath.

Allowing yourself to move the energy physically in the moment and placing your conscious focus on better feeling things move you away from what you don’t want and draw you closer to that thing or situation that you would prefer, that feels good.

Simply reading a list of positive, good feeling words is much more helpful and effective than complaining about what happened and repeating that story to as many people will listen. You may think sharing your woes feels good, but it actually only creates more of what you don’t want.

Give it a shot. Make your own list or use words from mine. When you find yourself focusing in a way that doesn’t feel good do yourself a favor and consciously turn it around.

Sending much love and soothing to everyone this beautiful day. We have been having relatively mild weather this Spring here in Central Texas. My hashtag #MilderTexasWeather is working. Next up is #MildRainyTexasSummer. Share it far and wide! For friends here in Texas, let’s see how we can change the weather, shall we?

It is much easier for someone outside the immediate situation to lend their positive thoughts, as someone facing a tornado can attest. My friend Roxanne Darling in Hawaii writes about how hashtag #thinkcalmthoughts helped dissipate two tsunami’s that were predicted to cause massive destruction. The people in the path of these storms may have been worried, but thousands of people across the world could(and did) easily think calm thoughts and affect the situation.

We are energetic beings and our thoughts are powerful. Watch the fabulous documentary Water: The Great Mystery to hear and see evidence from scientists and holy men about the power of our words and thoughts. They explain how we are all connected and can communicate on a deep level even over thousands of miles.

Come up with your own hashtag and put it out there. See what happens when you begin to actively focus on what you want. This can be about the weather or anything you want more of. Feel free to use some of the examples below or come up with your own. What do you want?

Better and more powerful than any physical action you could take, really let yourself think about and focus on what you want. Once you get clear and more singularly focused on what you do want, inspiration comes and the action you need to take becomes obvious.

Here are some tips for how to more easily and effortlessly bring about the change you wish to see:

  • Think about it… often. What do you want?
  • Set a goal and write it down. What do you want? When do you want it?
  • Spend time writing about it. Describe what it will look like and how it will be in as much detail as feels good.
  • Post your hashtag on your social media accounts. Send it out for others to share the vision with you.
  • Create a beautiful picture of it either digitally or with magazine cutouts and write your hashtag on it.
  • Post it on your vision board or bathroom mirror.
  • Make it a part of your screensaver or computer background so you see it daily.

People truly love to support each other. A beautiful picture, story or even just sharing the hashtag. People will resonate with it and share it with others.

Taking Right Action

Too often, you rush into action. Society tells you if you’re not busy, you’re a procrastinator.
Oh, and don’t be slow. That’s the worst thing – slow!

Action for the sake of action, however, doesn’t always yield the best results.

•     Should you jump into action before you really know what the best solution is, because waiting would make you look slow and indecisive?
•     If you really don’t know what to do, and need time to figure out the correct course to take, will you be viewed as a lazy procrastinator, good for nothing?
•     Once you’ve made a decision, do you stand by it, whether it works or not – because even worse than procrastinating or being slow is admitting you’re wrong?

Yikes!
You’ve been tricked by your own mind into believing that finding the problem will solve it – if you look long and hard enough at all the things that could go wrong, you’ll be able
to arm yourself with enough defenses to protect yourself and your stuff (umm – and your family, too, of course).

Problem with this is, you live in a universe based on a Law of Attraction. Whether you believe it or think it’s all just a bunch of hokum, it’s true. What you focus on, think about,
speak about – comes about. Looking for and finding problems only brings more problems.

If you remember from seventh grade Life Science with old Mr. Wilson (or whoever), the Earth and all matter in it are atoms, vibrating. Magnified even further, you – and
everything – are just oscillating fields of energy. Science has been saying this for over a hundred years, but the majority of people don’t know it.

Of those that do, most still live like someone else is controlling their lives. The government’s taking my rights away, my boss undervalues me, my parents don’t understand me, partner doesn’t appreciate me, children don’t respect me, the sun’s terrible for my skin, high-fructose corn syrup causes diabetes, it’s the terrorists, the media – and everything I love makes me fat or is bad for me!

You are in control.
One day, we’ll all stop giving our power away to doctors and media, government, beauty creams, the sun. You’ll be independent of other people’s opinions, moving in the
direction of what you want by focusing your thoughts.

Taking control of yourself is the fastest way to bring about the personal and global change you wish to see in the world.

Take the medicine, use the creams with awareness, allow them to work. It’s your MIND that ultimately heals – not the medicine, not the cream. Use your mind to support you in
creating the life of your dreams, rather than one you worry into existence.

You have the power already. When your mind is supporting you, you’ll always be inspired to take the right action, living the life you’ve always wanted, with the health,
wealth, and relationships that make your heart sing.

Seven Day Challenge

Cactus FlowerSome big changes are on the horizon for us. Perhaps for you as well. Maybe things in your life still look like they have looked for a quite a while, but do you feel the change in the air? Notice the change in the air is actually your recent desire for something better.

Whether or not you’re able to see and touch your coming manifestation makes no difference. When you feel it coming is when you start getting excited. Don’t worry so much about what’s around you at the moment. Your job, car, money or relationship situation is only temporary, certainly the way you feel about it is. Big change is on the horizon, all you have to do is relax and be on the lookout, ready to receive it.

How does this work? How do you relax and receive something you can’t see, taste, touch or smell? Well, you’ll start with doing some things to move yourself toward what you want.

My partner, Dionne and I have started a Seven Day Challenge. The premise is this, do the small things you can do to make yourself and your surroundings feel even better before what you want actually shows up. Prepare yourself and your space to receive whatever it is you’re looking for.

Ok, you ask, so change is coming and I’m definitely ready for it, but what can I do to physically move myself toward something unknown and abstract?

To help yourself focus forward on what is coming and let go of the old (you’re ready to see gone,) begin consciously doing things to make your life better and commit to do it for seven days.

Below is a list of four easy things to begin moving you toward a much more satisfying life. Do one or more things on the list every day for seven days. Do at least one per day, but if you do more you will definitely notice a bigger difference. The point of this is to take small, easy steps, so do what feels best and easiest to you. If it’s easy, you’ll do it.

  • Move (your body)
  • Meditate (to clear your mind)
  • Purge (to rid your space of unwanted/unnecessary objects)
  • Organize (to create the harmony in your environment you want in your life)

You may already do these things periodically but doing them often with mindfulness changes everything.

Move – What feels good to you? What do you enjoy? Find an activity and a friend to share it with. It’s more fun with a friend and when you don’t have the motivation they will. Don’t look at what other people do and achieve. Do what feels easiest and best to you in the moment. Dance to music in your living room, chase your dog around your yard, whatever you want, just move and breathe.

Meditate – Spend 5-30 minutes daily sitting quietly. Sit in a comfortable place with your feet flat on the floor, hands comfortably in your lap, take a few deep breathes and then allow yourself to really relax. Let your thoughts roll by (without following them) and just notice how they make you feel. Are you reminding yourself of obligations or deadlines? Are you worrying about an upcoming event? Our brain is like a computer, it’s an excellent tool, but don’t let it run your life. It’s subject to previous programs that are no longer the latest, greatest, updated information. Garbage in, garbage out. Once you begin to recognize the general direction your mind takes, you can re-direct it, but before that happens it’s all too easy to be terrorized and bullied by a busy and negatively focused mind.

Purge – We all have junk we don’t need. Drawers of crap or whole areas of your house that are filled with things someone else needs and could use. If you don’t use it, want it or if it doesn’t make your heart sing, get rid of it. Every object in your home holds energy. Clearing your space not only feels better physically, it is also making the space vibrationally for things you truly want. Donate clothes and shoes to local shelters or non-profits that help folks. Have a garage sale, pay someone to come haul off your old stuff or sell it on eBay. All of the extra stuff cluttering your space could be used and greatly appreciated by someone else. You’ll feel lighter and lighter as you let go and allow others to appreciate and utilize what is currently cluttering up your space.

Organize – Once you’ve gotten rid of what you don’t want, use or need, you can organize what’s left. Being able to easily access things you want, use and need on a regular basis is an absolute joy and the space you reclaim will feel open and fresh. You don’t have to do the whole thing at one time, start small. When you start small and complete the task you give yourself a boost. Notice what little things you could tweak around your house to make it more user friendly.

Side Note: It was amazing to me how long we kept the tea(daily use item) on a higher shelf in the cabinet than some things I rarely use. I would stretch and reach to get a box and three boxes would come tumbling out on my head. Now I laugh each time I easily reach my tea. Any similar situations in your life?

Key Point – Completing small tasks gives you the impetus to do more. Baby steps are the way to go here. When you try to do the whole thing at once it can be demoralizing when you lose steam mid-way through the project. So pick an area, your junk drawer or the cabinet under your bathroom sink and get started. If you already exercise regularly, do it with greater awareness, focus on each muscle group and see it working better, getting stronger. If you already practice meditation great! Add these activities to your life. If you don’t think you know how to meditate or think you’re doing it wrong, think again. Just sitting quietly for 5 minutes is beneficial. Breathing and pulling yourself out of your busy mind will be a welcome respite that turns into a relaxing habit.

The more you do these things the better other areas of your life will get. Your breathing improves, your balance gets better, the pain in your hip/neck/shoulders eases and you feel stronger and stronger, your health is improving. You’ll notice you want to eat healthier and your old go-to junk food will become distasteful to you. You’ll laugh more and you’ll notice your skin looks better, your eyes brighter. Others will notice this too. The pants that were previously a bit uncomfortable now seem to have plenty of room. The promotion you’ve been deserving at work begins to fall into place and you find the perfect contractor to work on your house. The money to pay for the projects shows up on time so you’re able to enjoy the process rather than worry about how you’re going to pay for it.

We are on day five of our challenge and already things are changing.

Our movement has been yoga and tennis. (We got rackets for Christmas and laugh constantly when we play, we’re not great, but that doesn’t matter.) It is fun and we are feeling so excited about life in general. We are sleeping better and our bodies feel amazing. I feel stronger than I ever have and more peaceful daily. We’ve purged and organized four different areas of our home and yard and are ready for more. It was amazing how many things were out of date and easily thrown away/recycled. Reclaiming our space is truly a joy. Isn’t it fabulous how starting small and doing little things causes such great change?

My life completely turned upside down (fabulously!) in October, and I was wondering how it was all going to work out. Financially supporting myself without a “job” with a paycheck for the first time was nerve-wracking and exciting, all at the same time.

Today I have a thriving practice working with businesses and individuals, doing most sessions over the phone or via Skype. The money is coming, steadily and surely – but it took months before I realized how stuck I was.

Years of doing things the way other people want them done can take a toll on you. You begin to think someone else might actually know what you should do better than you.
Wrong.

Always.

A belief is just a thought you keep thinking, whether it’s true or not. To create space for success, don’t get into some dramatic story of what’s happening and why and who’s wrong or right. You’re already attracting what you focus on, think about, talk about. If life’s going great and you’re loving it, then keep doing what you’re doing. But if you want more (or less) in your physical reality, learn how to magnetize what you want.

The grip of “what’s going to happen” can be strong, but let the energy move and it always works out. Always.

Living for others will never make you happy, but living for yourself will open you up to a whole new world of freedom.

Yes, Is The Grease

Yes keeps everything moving!

Yes is one of the most powerful words in any language. No other word has more power to transform your personal situation than “Yes”. Learn to say “Yes” in the face of what you don’t want and difficulties begin dissolving immediately. Recognize there is a perspective in every scenario that serves you and your being willing to see it, gets you halfway there.

When you say “yes” you are not resisting anything and are actually opening yourself to new possibilities. “Yes” allows the situation to resolve, transform or fade all together.

When we say “NO, NO that’s not what I wanted. Let me run and tell everyone how angry I am and how terrible this situation is.” We are only adding our precious and powerful energy to a situation we do not want. When we give things we don’t want our attention we continue to create things that make us feel bad. But, when we can first say “Yes” and then “Thank You”, changes previously unavailable begin to present themselves.

“Yes” is the grease, “no” is the glue.

“Yes”, I can allow this situation to transform and “thank you” for showing me where my focus and thoughts have been lately.

Don’t worry or give yourself a hard time. Just say, “OK. I’ve been focused on things other than what I want. It’s OK. I’m human. I can say yes and watch it all change. Everything is always working out for me.”

I find when I say “yes”, that most times, if it’s something I really don’t want to do, it doesn’t happen…

I get a call from a friend. “Hey! I’m moving out of my house and have no one to help me, will you?” Uh, yuck. I don’t want to move! BUT, I do love my friend and certainly want to be of assistance if I can, so “yes, of course I will help.” Not something I’m really looking forward to, but we always have fun and this will be no different. We’ll get it done and I’ll get some exercise. “Yes, I will help.”

The day before the big move, I get a call saying someone else with a big truck and a few buddies are happy to help (for beer!) and are taking care of the whole thing, maybe we can do dinner next week when things have settled down. Voila! “YES!” I said yes, and it all worked out. I was able to support my friend and created the space for more help that didn’t require me to move heavy furniture!

“Yes” is the grease, “no” is the glue.

How can you support yourself by saying “YES” to allow more flow in your life? Even in situations you don’t want. Remember, “Yes” is the grease that allows things to shift and change with ease, “No” gums up the system and creates more of the same.

Do you notice yourself saying “no” and feeling it in your body? Find the “NO” physically in your body and breathe.(stomach, chest, throat, heart?) Breathe gently, in “yes” and out “thank you”. In “yes”, out “thank you.” Allow the resistance to move and watch the situation transform.
