You’ve Got To Hand It To Them: But They’ll Take It How They Take It

Check out my latest article, just posted on LinkedIn.We drove out to our favorite river spot yesterday. On the way we stopped at Rusty Rooster to pick up a snack of delicious fried chicken, just like my Granny used to make.

We shared a piece driving down the road…

A few bites into the chicken I handed the piece to Dionne in the way I felt she’d be able to hold it easily and get the best bite, but when she reached for it, she took it in a completely different way than I had handed it to her.

In that moment, I gained a level of clarity on so much of what we do that I had to share it with you.

They’ll take it how they take it.

This is true whatever message, product or service you’re sharing; business or personal. No matter the energy behind what you’re doing, the other person can only perceive that which is in their own vibration and matches their level of conscious awareness.

Years ago, I worked for a person that I loved dearly. I would feel such waves of appreciation for the work we were doing together, I’d be moved send a rave email. In it I’d share all the reasons I was so proud to be doing the work and happy to help and support in any way I could.

I remember on more than one occasion not getting the response I thought I’d get. This person read my heart bursting, absolutely open and loving message and took it the wrong way.

Instead of hearing what I was genuinely saying they took it as a sign I wanted more power, money or recognition. I would never have turned down more money, of course, but those were never my intentions. I was simply sharing my moment of joy and appreciation.

So what’s the solution?

How do we make sure our message falls on open ears and arrives with our true intention intact?

First, feel through the physical sensations of upset or irritation any misunderstanding might have caused. Where is it? In your heart, stomach, throat? Resist the need to explain or defend yourself. They couldn’t hear you anyway. Recognize the other person is receiving this information through their own level of consciousness and no amount of research or hard facts will change their mind in the moment.

We all view the world through the very personal lenses of our positive or negative encounters. Our deepest fears and worries are what cloud our daily life experience. Move through this discomfort physically in your body to align your energy with those that can hear your message and will resonate with your business or service. You aren’t trying to reach everyone, just the ones that need what you’re offering.

Appreciate these ‘outages’ in the moment for the good information they are. Learn to acknowledge the upset you’re feeling physically as the thing keeping you from your perfect alignment. Let yourself feel through it without judgment or justification (or the stories of WHY you’re upset to begin with) and you’ll get even more clear about what you want to say or share or even how you need to re-direct your focus and efforts.

When we begin to recognize bad feelings or momentary “misses” as actual opportunities to move ourselves closer to what we want, then there’s never a problem, merely another potential solution.

Finding Your Flow

Have you ever been presented with an opportunity that obviously worked well for others but you immediately assumed was no good? Or maybe it felt good in the beginning but soon your mind had you convinced that it was a mistake and wouldn’t work out.

In each of these situations we have the opportunity to feel through our initial response to get to the truth of the matter for ourselves. Not what someone else thinks is right, but what WE feel is right for US.

What works for you won’t necessarily work for others and vice versa.

If you’re not connecting with your ideal client or customer, where’s the outage? Is it the way you feel about your offering or the way you feel about presenting or sharing your information?

Either way is no problem. By first being aware of what’s happening you have the opportunity to make adjustments, but they’re not the adjustments you might think.

More important than SEO, content marketing or Facebook ads, aligning your energy to feel good about what you’re doing is paramount to having a successful business. When you are in alignment, advertising is just icing on the cake. Word of mouth will become your greatest advertising tool and any money spent on marketing and ads will yield a higher ROI.

You can still do what you do, but you’ll be doing it in a way that reaches the people you are most excited to help and they will be happy to have found you.

When you realize this powerful and important information is available to you right now you can utilize it to create the shift and momentum you need for living the life you’ll love. You don’t have to do it like everyone else. You just have to do it the way that works best for you.

What’s Right?

What if we spent more time asking each other, “What’s right?”

What if we began looking at every situation in our lives and asking ourselves a question that would serve us rather than bring us more problems?

I know, when someone walks into the room looking upset, gloomy or mad our curiosity gets the best of us. That part of us that cranes our neck to see the horrific accident or unfolding tragedy needs to know what’s wrong. Just tell me what’s wrong and I can relax. Not.

It truly is human nature. What’s wrong? Tell me what’s wrong. What’s wrong with me, with you, with this situation, with our government, our schools, our parents, our kids. Let’s get to the bottom of this! Let’s find out what caused this trouble so we can all point at it and shake our heads in righteous indignation. Oh that is SO WRONG.

I understand. I really do. I’m human too. I understand fear. I understand anxiety. I understand heartache. I understand loss. I understand uncertainty and pain. We all do. We’re not alone. We are all living exactly the same and completely different human experiences.

What can we do to help ourselves through these difficult emotions and times in our lives? How can we better support ourselves in the moment?  (And what would it take for us to want to figure out what creates these scenarios and situations over and over?)

What if we ask ourselves “What’s right about this situation?”

I know. I know. That’s a big, huge, enormous question in the midst of all that’s wrong. But, what if asking what’s right gave you a different perspective?

What if asking what’s right helped you to see what is right about this seeming tragedy in front of you?

Give it a shot. What have you got to lose? You’ve already been asking what’s wrong all this long time. How’s that working out for you? Asking “what’s wrong” has been and always will be lining you up vibrationally with more and more things you find wrong.

Decide now to begin asking “What’s right?”

I know that in the middle of confusion and upset asking what’s right about the situation feels weird, but go with it. Notice where the energy comes up in your body and feel through it. Relax and soothe yourself with such tenderness and love.

What harm could come from it? A positive perspective? You actually feeling better?

You might discover that you’re holding on to an old belief about yourself or others that’s creating this irritation or problem. Maybe you’re so focused on the problem that you’re totally missing the blessing that is your release from a dead-end job or relationship that was keeping you from having the money, love or support you deserve.

I remember thinking years back that I was ready for a new car. I loved my other car but some things were going wonky and I couldn’t seem to find a way to get them fixed. Not long after, on a 6am drive with my son to his high school for morning practice, were were rear-ended. It totaled the car. After my moment (about an hour or maybe half a day?) I realized I had been wanting a new car but wasn’t taking the steps to make it happen. I didn’t think I could afford it.

The universe showed me I could. I got another car, new to me and much better. I love my car so much. It feels so good to drive it. I enjoy just thinking about it.

In the moment, though, I was not pleased. Not pleased. Quite irritated and upset even. My son was driving. I was angry at the driver, angry it was six o’clock in the morning, angry my iced tea got poured into my lap. As soon as I jumped out of the passenger seat to see who had done this, I saw the culprit. A woman with two small children in her car and another vehicle behind her with two more small children. My initial anger dissipated into frustration and some compassion. Bless their hearts. We’re all up early shuttling our kids around. It was rainy and shit happens.

After all was said and done I sat in the drivers seat of my new car and laughed. This is what was right about that situation. I wanted a new car, needed one, but wasn’t taking the steps to make that happen. The universe gave me a little nudge.

What are you being nudged to do?

Think back over your life and recognize how many things have happened you first judged as bad that actually turned out better than you ever expected.

Now, look at a current struggle, take a deep breath and ask yourself “What’s right?”

There’s a perspective in every situation that serves you, but you have to be looking for it to find it. I am seeing you seeing it.

When Bad Things Happen

It happens. These things we witness and experience as bad or painful. We lose loved ones, jobs, friends, jewelery, books, pets and money. From the smallest most insignificant possessions to the most important people, loss is a part of our lives. Learning to allow it to pass with as little struggle as possible will create a rippling wave of ease through your life.

The important thing to remember in the midst of the hurt, grief, confusion, anger or sadness is this… there is a perspective around this very situation that serves you. A realization you’ll reach at some point that makes you say. “OHHhhhhhh… Ahhhhh. Bless my heart.”

It’s OK if you can’t see it or aren’t there right now.

Don’t rush yourself. Experience your experience and allow yourself to be human. Your current feelings are absolutely valid and as you accept and acknowledge how you feel the energy behind it also shifts and moves. The perspective is there and you’ll be able to find it soon enough.

Allow the tears to come and the shock of the loss to reverberate throughout your body. Tell yourself over and over in your mind, “This too shall pass and when it does, the clarity comes.” Give yourself the very best chance of healing by surrounding yourself with people that support and uplift you.

Remind yourself and your little ones of the love in your lives. Remind yourself of the joy you’ve experienced and feel such appreciation for the time well spent. Accept your momentary feelings of grief, loss, fear and confusion as part of the process, knowing that everything is always working out for you.

Seek out laughter and joyous experiences. Many of us feel that not worrying or feeling despondent would be a disservice to the person we’ve lost or that has suffered a seeming tragedy. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

The loved one we’ve lost is no longer suffering and wants you to feel the freedom and relief they are currently experiencing.

Those hospitalized or in rehab recovering from a tragedy or illness need your positive energy and high vibration to help them along the healing path. Seeing them as healthy, happy and vital is one of the most important things we can do for them.

Our energy and vibration is the most important “thing” we bring to this party called life.

Accepting that adversity is a part of your existence and allowing yourself to move through it with as much ease as possible is the greatest gift you can give yourself and those you love.

As you practice this, your mind will begin to understand the process and it won’t be so “bad” the next time a seeming catastrophe strikes. You’ll see it for what it is and move through it.

This doesn’t mean you’ll never feel pain again or won’t be upset by upsetting scenarios, it just means you won’t let it keep you down for long. You’ll feel through the pain and find the clarity much sooner.

But, wherever you are right now, is perfect. From right here you can get to wherever you want to be. You are absolutely loved, cared for and supported. Take a few deep breaths and feel it for yourself.

What could you do right now to feel just a little bit better about the situation?

Talk with a friend or play with a pet. Watch a funny movie or read a book that makes you laugh or gives you comfort. Find someone who gives really good hugs and get one. Allow yourself to be embraced, soothed and uplifted by those around that can see through the situation to the relief on the other side.

How To Get Pregnant (or whatever you want)

Alright, alright. Everyone just settle down. Let’s be adults here. I’m assuming you all watched HBO as children or peaked through your fingers during a movie when your parents said to cover your eyes. Hell, maybe they even talked to you about it. Whatever the case. You know the basics.

What I’m here to tell you is how to help yourself energetically while doing the things you know you gotta do… physically.

First, if you’ve been struggling and/or spending large amounts of time and money to try and make this happen, take a deep breath and relax. As a matter of fact, take a few deep breaths. Bless your heart. I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine how frustrating, upsetting or possibly devastating this must be for you and your partner. I love you so much and am here to help.

You can get pregnant and you can have a healthy, happy baby.

Once you’ve tried a few or more times and things didn’t work out, you got nervous and scared that you couldn’t and began feeling a deep longing for something you feel you can’t have. That feeling may be in your heart, or your stomach. You possibly feel it throughout your chest area and up into your neck and throat. This aching pain and discomfort is actually your ticket to a baby.

Notice what your mind is saying to you as you feel the physical discomfort in your body. What emotions are swirling around that feeling? Sadness, worry, anger, frustration, fear, longing?

Take another few deep breaths, in through your nose, filling your belly first, then your chest, hold for a couple of seconds and exhale. Do this a few times allowing your mind to relax and rest for a moment.

I understand well the feeling of needing to do something to make something happen immediately. But being calm and centered is what creates the space for what we want to happen.

When you notice the bodily discomfort your negative thoughts bring up and just allow yourself to feel them without going deeper into the sad story you’ll begin to notice a shift. Those feelings are telling you your focus isn’t helping your cause. Don’t worry or be angry. Just breathe and let the moment pass.

The next step, is to really really appreciate your great life as it is right now. When you wake in the night snuggle into your bed or your partner and recognize that your nights of uninterrupted sleep are numbered. Soon there will be a baby to feed or care for so relish your sleep and down time.

Clean and organize your house in preparation for the chaos that comes with a new baby. Begin to baby proof the house and set yourself up for success in a way you couldn’t do with a baby on your hip or on less than two hours of sleep. Know that everything is happening in perfect timing.

Begin talking to your baby. Yes, I know you’re not pregnant yet, but you want to be don’t you? The soul that will be your baby is with you and waiting for you to relax enough to allow their entrance into your life. Sing songs to your baby and put your hand on your belly and feel the joy bursting in your heart for the new life you’ll be bringing into this world.

Feel the excitement and relief of holding your precious, healthy baby in your arms. Can you feel it? If you still feel fear, longing or worry that it won’t happen. Go back to that place in your body and relax around it.

Finally, soothe yourself in your mind, constantly. Don’t allow yourself to say things like, I’m never going to get pregnant, I don’t deserve a baby. Notice what your mind is telling you and feel the feelings around it.

Just as you’ll be quite diligent about keeping your little four year old out of a busy street, keep your mind focused on soothing and uplifting yourself. Any negative or defeated thoughts only create more problems and obstacles. It’s ok to have them, just don’t entertain them. Soothe yourself and let them pass.

For my dear friends that have to rely on medical procedures to get pregnant, realize the pressure behind this process. I’m giving you the biggest hug right now. Bless your heart. You have to let the energy move and allow yourself to be soothed and uplifted. Sterile and medical environments coupled with money concerns and deep need cause stress in your body and make it more difficult to conceive.

Try taking a yoga class and meditating. Or find other activities that soothe and center you. Being in a place of peace and ease helps your body be more receptive to what you want.

Never forget that what you want is also wanting you. There is a baby waiting for you. Ready to come in and change your life forever.

Don’t Worry, Just Be

It really is.

Don’t worry, everything is always working out for you. That difficult task in front of you. The solution you need but don’t know about. It’s already been done. Someone has already figured it out and knows how to do it. The research has been done and findings published. Easier ways have been discovered and created. Plans have been shared and tweaked to perfectly fit any situation.

It’s that easy. All the information we need is readily available, we just have to know how to find it.

And finding it is much easier than looking for a needle in a haystack. You actually don’t have to build any bridges or tear down any walls to get to it. And you don’t have to travel to far away places to find it. You don’t need airfare, a doctors note, your parents or spouses permission. It’s all right here, you just have to relax.

Our health can be recovered. Our finances can bounce back. Our family can once again(or for the first time) come together in harmony. Our every need can be fulfilled in any moment when we are willing to give up our struggle against and begin looking for what we want.

Everything we require or desire is available to us. If you didn’t already know this… just Google it.

My mom was staying with my son when we were out of town and he was attending a dressy function that required a tie. As I’m the one that always tied his ties, he ask his Grammie for help. She didn’t know how to tie it either, so, what to do?

That’s right, he Googled it.

“How to tie a Windsor knot” and Voilà! a long list of handy dandy videos and info-graphics explaining and giving a examples of how to do it. Done. That was easy! Next.

During the six years I helped run a very successful internet business I never had to reinvent the wheel. Every time a need or desire arose the first question was “how do we make this work?” and then I’d Google it and find more information than you could shake a stick at. Someone has done a review and given you a short list of the top software, sites, tutorials, videos, cameras, cars, web hosts, etc. If I couldn’t find it immediately, I’d say something like, “No worries! Won’t it be nice when I stumble across just the exact right thing we’re looking for?” And inevitably I’d find it.

Everything you need is out there. The answer to your prayer, the solution to your problem, the cure for your disease… all available and closer than you think.

The quickest way to finding what you need is to go within. Take a break from the whirlwind of your physical reality for a moment and just be. Take a few deep breaths now, in through your nose, filling your belly first and then your lungs, hold it for a couple seconds and release. Pull in your belly at the end to completely empty your lungs so you’re getting a full fresh breath every time. (Do that three to ten times whenever you need to relax and find a better perspective.)

Breathe and feel what you feel physically in your body. Listen to what kind of thoughts your mind is generating. Are they hopeful, helpful thoughts or are you singularly focused on the problem and how big and bad it is.

Your focus is creating your reality.

If there is something in your life you don’t like and don’t want, give yourself a moment to acknowledge the feelings of worry, fear, frustration and upset around the situation. Acknowledge your humanity and appreciate the fact that you are not the first person to deal with this issue and there are plenty of people who have made it through using a number of different approaches that you might not know about or understand.

For every question, there is an answer.

For every problem, there is a solution.

For every prescription drug, there is a natural remedy that that drug was derived from or created to replace.

There’s a shoe for every foot and an ass for every seat.

There are buyers for what you are selling that only want to buy from you. There is no competition, except in your mind.

There is nothing you can’t create or allow into your life if you know how the world works and are willing to work within it’s rules. (Your focus creates your reality. Have I said that before?)

For every problem, there IS a solution.

Nothing is impossible. It ain’t over till it’s over and if it isn’t over, you can find another way.

How do you find this way?

Stop reacting.

Let yourself be OK with however you feel right now. Accept your feelings as momentary, passing waves of emotion.

Emotion = Energy in Motion

Discover the power of poise. The next time you are struck by a powerful negative feeling or emotion allow yourself to relax and take three deep breaths. You’ll notice the intensity of the emotion begins to diminish in your body much more quickly than it does when you react out of fear, anger or frustration. As that feeling passes, clarity comes. Your deep emotion subsides and you are able to make better decisions and actually see the situation as the good information it is… a heads-up alert to what you’re creating.

Your emotions are a precise indicator of your focus and thoughts. Notice when you feel bad that you are focusing on lack, limitation, blame, anger, frustration, worry, irritation, etc. When you feel good you’re focused on and thinking about good things in your life, happy times, lovely family members, the great job you did, the many blessings you have or things that please you. This is quite simple and very easy for you to confirm and acknowledge to/for yourself.

I’ll give you a minute…

So you’ll now begin to recognize that what you are thinking about and focusing on, you are creating. Period. Bottom Line. End of Story. Therefore, whatever you are worrying about you are also creating.

But, don’t worry! We’re all human. We came by it honestly. It came by our birth into our families, communities and society that didn’t have the information we have now. They were raised thinking outside circumstances controlled their lives and that’s what we learned. But when you know better, you can do better.

Give yourself a break and practice focusing on your destination. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do? What experiences do you long for? Do you want to experience perfect health? Do you want to get married and have a baby? Do you want to be financially secure and free?

Think about what it is you most want to feel…  happy, loved and loving, satisfied, healthy, engaged, peaceful, excited, free, joyous and abundant? This is how you focus on the end result. The finish line. Not what you think it’s going to take to get you there. But, just being there.

Don’t worry about what it will take to make it happen, just do what’s right in front of you. When you put one foot in front of the other and take care of what you need to take care of, with your focus on the end result, the easier road with all it’s possibilities and solutions will present itself in the most delightful way.

It’s Easier Than That

On this Labor Day, I’ve got some good news for you. Whatever you’re struggling with right now(money,job,health,relationship), the solution is available. Whatever you’re imagining needs to happen to resolve the issue, I’m here to tell you, it’s easier than that.

Our minds are currently wired to look for what’s wrong in any given situation, but, not to worry, it’s only a habit. We actually live in a vast and miraculous universe and what you need is already available, and it’s easier than you think. Someone has already figured it out and the solution is available right now, just waiting for you to find it.

Most of us spend too much time participating in our habit of poking at and talking about problems. How did this happen? What was the cause? Where did it start? Let’s get to the bottom of this!

So many people think they must focus on the problem and worry about it until it resolves… because, if I’m not worried, it means I don’t care, right? WRONG.

This is the way many of us were taught to handle such things. Grab the bull by the horns and wrestle that sucker to the ground. Or if I don’t know how to do that, worrying and planning for the worst will be my modus operandi. The original problem may well resolve, but the continued focus on and wrestling with it brings another situation right on it’s heels that will sting in much the same way.

What if there’s a simple solution?

What if it’s easier than I think?

How good will my life feel when I let things be easy?

How good will it feel to be genuinely, positively expectant?

How amazing will my life be when I realize there’s always an easy solution?

First, feel the ease of the previous questions. You don’t have to immediately answer the questions, just let your mind ponder them. Doesn’t that feel better than asking yourself what terrible thing could happen next?

Now, let yourself let it be easy. Begin expecting to find solutions more quickly and easily. Feel through any old feelings(physical sensations in your body) that says “things are hard, there’s honor in struggle or things come by easily aren’t worth much.”

Move the energy behind those old worn out thoughts and your mind more effortlessly reaches for positivity. And once your mind begins reaching for positivity everything changes. You get in the flow of life and things you want and need show up easily for you, right on time.

Once you get the hang of it, your life becomes completely your own. You’ll never really worry about anything again. Of course there will be those moments, there will always be moments, such is life. Relax and breathe and tell yourself, “You’re OK. You’re OK. We’re OK. This is OK. It’s easier than that. I love you. We’re absolutely love and supported. Thank goodness everything is always working out for us.”

With your own love, compassion and support, you can’t lose. All you ever need to completely change your world is your own self support,

So, when you find yourself struggling over a problem, relax. Spending your life in your head thinking about the troubles you’ve endured or witnessed only keeps you bound to those feelings and situations. Take a deep breathe, relax and remember that it’s much easier than you think.
