Yes, Is The Grease

Yes keeps everything moving!

Yes is one of the most powerful words in any language. No other word has more power to transform your personal situation than “Yes”. Learn to say “Yes” in the face of what you don’t want and difficulties begin dissolving immediately. Recognize there is a perspective in every scenario that serves you and your being willing to see it, gets you halfway there.

When you say “yes” you are not resisting anything and are actually opening yourself to new possibilities. “Yes” allows the situation to resolve, transform or fade all together.

When we say “NO, NO that’s not what I wanted. Let me run and tell everyone how angry I am and how terrible this situation is.” We are only adding our precious and powerful energy to a situation we do not want. When we give things we don’t want our attention we continue to create things that make us feel bad. But, when we can first say “Yes” and then “Thank You”, changes previously unavailable begin to present themselves.

“Yes” is the grease, “no” is the glue.

“Yes”, I can allow this situation to transform and “thank you” for showing me where my focus and thoughts have been lately.

Don’t worry or give yourself a hard time. Just say, “OK. I’ve been focused on things other than what I want. It’s OK. I’m human. I can say yes and watch it all change. Everything is always working out for me.”

I find when I say “yes”, that most times, if it’s something I really don’t want to do, it doesn’t happen…

I get a call from a friend. “Hey! I’m moving out of my house and have no one to help me, will you?” Uh, yuck. I don’t want to move! BUT, I do love my friend and certainly want to be of assistance if I can, so “yes, of course I will help.” Not something I’m really looking forward to, but we always have fun and this will be no different. We’ll get it done and I’ll get some exercise. “Yes, I will help.”

The day before the big move, I get a call saying someone else with a big truck and a few buddies are happy to help (for beer!) and are taking care of the whole thing, maybe we can do dinner next week when things have settled down. Voila! “YES!” I said yes, and it all worked out. I was able to support my friend and created the space for more help that didn’t require me to move heavy furniture!

“Yes” is the grease, “no” is the glue.

How can you support yourself by saying “YES” to allow more flow in your life? Even in situations you don’t want. Remember, “Yes” is the grease that allows things to shift and change with ease, “No” gums up the system and creates more of the same.

Do you notice yourself saying “no” and feeling it in your body? Find the “NO” physically in your body and breathe.(stomach, chest, throat, heart?) Breathe gently, in “yes” and out “thank you”. In “yes”, out “thank you.” Allow the resistance to move and watch the situation transform.

Life is a Roller Coaster

My life completely turned upside down(fabulously!) in October. I was freshly on my own and wondering how it was all going to work out. Financially supporting myself fully (without a “job” with a paycheck) for the first time in my life was nerve racking and exciting all at the same time.

It took months actually before I really realized how stuck I was in my thinking.

Years of doing things the way other people want them done can take a toll on you. You begin to think that someone else might actually know what you should do better than you. Wrong.

It took me a minute to get here, but here I am! Life is good and exciting and things are moving along nicely.

Creating the space for my success has been something I’ve been doing for a while now. Allowing myself to move through the nervous/habitual energy when it comes up and not getting into some dramatic story of what’s happening and why and who is wrong or right. I let the energy move and it always works out.

Everything is always working out. Always.

The grip of “what’s going to happen” can be strong, but I always know it will work out. We humans do so love the drama.

And boy did it work out!

Today I have a small office in South Austin (by appointment only) and a thriving practice doing most of my sessions over the phone or via Skype. The money is coming, steadily and surely. I am now working with several businesses and many individuals creating great results.

A few months ago, I didn’t know how it was going to work or what it would look like. That amount of uncertainty leaves our minds all kinds of room for speculation and we do have a choice on which direction we speculate.

I did not fantasize about being broke or not being able to make it or having to get a “real job” that doesn’t burst my heart and make me happy. I didn’t freak out and call everyone telling them my problems and worries.

What I did do and still do(all day everyday) is allow myself to feel what I feel about everything and soothe my mind if it gets too busy over anything it thinks might need to be fixed.

I spend time doing the things I am inspired to do and feeling good about what I have done.

Things that show up, I deal with. Like when the heating element went out in my oven. I could have gotten upset and raised hell and complained about the “great timing”, but I didn’t.

What I did do was appreciate the opportunity to care for something that means a great deal to me and the people for whom I cook. I called a friend who knew about such things, got the part number and website to order it. When the part came in, the oven got pulled out, cleaned thoroughly, part replaced and something was cooked immediately.

My appreciation for my appliances and all of the things that make life so simple and easy is overwhelming. We’ve lived here for 10 years with no trouble so it was my pleasure to give some time and attention to the machine that has provided 1000’s of meals to family and friends.

Decide how you want to live your life and start moving that direction. Give yourself the soothing and support you need to live your best, easiest and most relaxed life. We didn’t come into this world to struggle for someone else’s wants, desires and wishes.

Give yourself a moment to think about what you want. What does your body tell you about those thoughts? Do you feel a “whatever dude!” in your stomach, or “not likely” in your chest. Maybe you feel that lump in your throat that says it’s not safe to express your own true self. Those “bad” feelings are a sign of beliefs you hold that don’t support you. The beauty is, once you realize this, the feelings can be felt, the energy moved and more supportive beliefs embraced.

A belief is just a thought you keep thinking, whether it’s true or not.

I’m here to tell you, enjoy the roller coaster, it’s all ok. And better than that, it’s great. Your true purpose in this life is to be happy; the feelings are showing you where to start. Those feelings in your body were never meant to stick around forever, they want to move and I can help.

Where in your body do you carry your nervous energy?
Heart/chest, stomach, jaw/throat?

Those feelings can move and when they do, you will feel relief and freedom. I’m here to help.

Making Change

Making Change

I dreamt once I was in a big room filled floor to ceiling with stacks and stacks of dollar bills. People were filing in one after the other, and exchanging larger bills for smaller ones. All night, I made change. The next morning I felt exhilarated. It felt like money and abundance, yes, but even more important, it was change.

The changing of big bills into small ones was an important key point. I wanted change – at the time, the change I wanted was BIG.

Little bit of effort – big, big change.

The way life works now is a big change. But the way to get there wasn’t by taking huge steps or resolving to make drastic sweeping changes. The effort that brought the biggest changes was actually quite small.

Get free by recognizing a few things:

See where you’re sabotaging your desires by arguing for limitation – in your head, and by telling a story of your life that isn’t pleasing and certainly not what you want.

Once you get the correlation between the stories and the frequency with which those feelings show themselves again and again – from different folks and situations – you can stop. (Notice when you hear people say, “Ugh! This is always happening to me.”)

The key to stopping the cycle is to move the driving energy. Find the feeling, let it move, physically. Like fight or flight response – dilated pupils, clammy skin, pumping heart – relax, breathe, and the feeling will pass.

Instead of making a long list of New Year resolutions, make only one. To affect the greatest change, resolve to do the smallest, easiest thing each day to get you closer to where you want to be.

Move the energy that says it won’t work, that you can’t do it. Give yourself a break from all the hard work and let it be easy.

You can have it all.

Sailing Through Life

I sailed for the first time recently. It was an absolutely fantastic experience. I’ve been on motor boats, ski boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats, but never a sail boat, not even a little one.

When we first got on the boat I immediately noticed how the sails were connected by different color ropes, red, blue, green, so you can see clearly what you’re working with. Very clever. Of course you need different colors, can you imagine the confusion?

With a nice breezy day on the lake we had a very “sporty” ride. Sail boat rides are much different from your typical boat ride. It is definitely an interactive experience. The seating is not as plentiful (or comfortable) and we didn’t know where to go to be out of the way.

Our very first turn after really getting out on the water had us leaned back against the side rails, almost touching the water, looking almost directly up at the person across. The pressure was strong and moving around or changing position was not an option. It was a bit harsh being trapped and unable to sit up. Back uncomfortable, seat wet.

But comes the inevitable turn (life always takes a turn) and we were back on top. I got better footing. Previous experience told me I didn’t want to be trapped on my back again. I found a different position so when we took the next turn I was upright with my center of gravity low for balance. With my feet under me I was able to maneuver the waves and lean into the turn.

Even further down under the boat is the keel, a weight essentially, of concrete and steel weighing approx 6,000lbs. The vessel will never capsize. No matter how far it leans to the right or to the left (Starboard or Port), something up top will fail before the boat would turn over. Such is the safety and wellbeing(ness) of our own lives. The Divine, God, the Universe is that weight that keeps the boat upright.

We all know money can’t buy happiness, security, worthiness, peace or joy. All of these things are within ourselves. Like the little cabin deep inside the boat. It is there whether you utilize it or not.

It may get rough or rocky, but breathe and relax as best you can until you reach the next turn that puts you back on top. Recognize where you lost your footing or how your seating could be better next time and make those adjustments. Make yourself more comfortable, be prepared by knowing where you’ll lean for support. Secure yourself. Root yourself firmly in your own center because you will turn again and this time it will be an adventure.

This is the reason for life and why we are here. To have these adventures and to eat good food and meet wonderful people and have experiences we haven’t yet had. Once you recognize this and know how to navigate, you’ll never worry or fear anything ever again.

It’s just a ride.
